We believe the NFPA must recognize the need of fine fuel - TopicsExpress

We believe the NFPA must recognize the need of fine fuel firefighters to ride their trucks. Because of this, Blanchat Mfg., Inc. has expended a significant amount of time and effort to develop an exterior Fire Attack Operational Area which meets roll-over protection standard SAE J1194. (The same standard used for wheeled agricultural tractors.) This exterior riding position proposal will be discussed at the upcoming NFPA 1906 conference in San Diego Sept 9-12, however, most of the NFPA voting committee members are not familiar with the reasons why this is a NEED. In order to raise awareness and support for this proposal, it would be very helpful if you could outline some of the reasons why your department NEEDS the ability to ride their trucks on scene. Some of the reasons could include: • Safety reasons • Tactical reasons • Insurance reasons • Lack of manpower • Age and fitness level of firefighters • Response time • Knowing where firefighters are during on scene operations Please send us your input at blanchatmfg/contact/ with subject "PI1906-53, 54" and we will forward on your email to the appropriate NFPA personnel. Thank you for taking the time to submit your comments and concerns on this issue!
