We booked ourselves into an Airbnb in Locarno! The owner was out , his sister (in her late 70s) who spoke only German (thank god for Chengis language skills )tried to give directions but we absolutely couldnt find the place easily even with Google maps and thats coz the road only went upto a point. We crossed a waterfall , a rickety bridge with a gushing stream below , then a hen pen with barn yard animals, some sort of a vineyard , the house was inbetween all this!and to add to this there were no lamp posts and only rain! How could we blame #googlemaps?? After going through hell, we finally found it, Phew! We had to return the car and were already 3 hours late , took an hour to locate the house, the car couldnt go upto the house, as there was no road ! The reason we kept the car till so late , was to transport the luggage easily into the house :-( ! Anyways , the pictures will give you an idea on what this looked like! This got even more adventurous as we got back later that night after watching the screening of The hundred foot journey at the Locarno international film festival ( had postedsome pics in my last update) ! We arrived post midnight and had to find the house with our cell phone light !We screamed in one stretch thinking someone was behind us, coz Deeps turned to look back and we were all holding hands at that point obviously out of fear and falling off the bridge into that gushing water! We clicked a few pics and I tried to see if there were any unknown figure/ghosts/payee(ghost in Tamil)/bhoot (ghost in Hindi)/ gogga ( ghost in Coorgi- thats how my mom got us to do things when we were small saying gogga will catch us) captured in the pic:-) . I remember Zee horror show it was a program that aired 22 years ago , had an episode where in the photograph you could see and tell if ghosts were around ! At this point , we also kept laughing hysterically but it was so dark that even the sound of our own laughter was spooking us out, mine especially!Mummmmmmmy, so scary :-(! Our host turned out to be really sweet ( a bit spooky you may think , when u see the pics since this was the middle of nowhere) and had so many stories to tell us about big directors who stayed at his place usually during the film festival! They were huge apparently, we ofcourse knew none of them! We had planned to leave really early but it was just raining and thinking about the trek with our baggage and in the rain to get a bus, seemed like the worst thought! We had to get to Venice , so had to get a bus to the station and then a train to Milan and then one more train to Venice! Locarno is the Italian part of Switzerland , and how did we realise that, a) the people were more friendlier b) the men were definitely more good looking , the bus driver, the ticket guy at the station , our other co-passengers, cute children with cuter dads :-)! We were getting very excited, weve always heard about Italiano men and we were seeing a good trailer here already! Before we reached every destination , Chengi would teach us five words in the local language. My FPH would like to practice these words in advance and its a very cute sight to see her remember the word and get the pronunciation right! She usually and finally got it right only once we left the place ! So just a sneak peak to what happened in Venice, Deeps was taught scuzie which means excuse me but she kept saying squeezie ...sorry it was squuueeeeezie in that tone , just picture that :-) . We didnt ofcourse correct her and enjoyed the stares she got, some mean , very mean , some mischievous looks of happiness that an exotic creature was saying squuueeeziee to them but had a serious question to ask them! Deeps was oblivious to fact that she wasnt saying this right! :-)))! Locarno was just 1 night , but for us , it was quite an adventure that will be remembered!
