We came across a fascinating article from Springer about a study involving dogs and their ability to distinguish dog faces among the faces of other animal species and also people. The purpose of the study was to determine how and if dogs recognize a wide variety of dog breeds as part of one overall species. In the study, published in the journal Animal Cognition, researchers showed domestic dogs a series of dog photos as well as other animal species and people, projected on two computer screens. Humans and other animal species on one screen; dog breeds on another. Please click on the link to learn more: valleycottageanimalhospital/news/dogs-distinguish-dog-faces-from-other-faces
