We can change our selfishness into collectiveness with an iota of a real revolution,the kind of revolution I mean is the reorientation of our existing values that glory in sustaining families and friends through the embers of corruption rather than being rooted in national altruism.Value systems have often brought about real productivity and this functions through growth in the socio-political and economic life of every true country.Ethics sits shallow in our minds.The system has been damaged by the long period of military rule and the short period of civil rule cant bring change over night in our so called institutions whether political,economical and even socio-cultural. Hence, we are inaundated with this clear fact that,Nigeria is about ethnic/regional affair cum religious sentiments.Nobody in the present time sees beyond this.Yesterday we talked about zoning and Federal Character and today we are talking about merit but what are we suppose to do? Where are we to build from? Have we laid the foundation? What have we planted that we expect to reap from.Have we planted the right values rooted in fair play,mutual respect,transparency,peace and unity? Are we busy watering those values planted by the long history of military despotism such as corruption,nepotism,my family and friends syndrome, witch hunting, covetiousness,sabotage etc? Let us reflect on where we are coming from perhaps we would get the right direction where we are heading.-DAA
