We can keep her alive, but at what cost? That was the choice we had to make five years ago today. The next day the doctors were reluctant to let her ride home in an ambulance for fear that she would die on the way home. However, we knew Emmalee wanted to be home, not in the sterile hospital environment to spend her last few moments. She stayed strong and her fighting spirit allowed her to make it home. When we arrived home, I gently carried her to her favorite place in our house and she peacefully passed away 20 minutes later on October 1, 2009. We love you Emmalee! We miss you and will see you again very soon! Tomorrow morning I will set a box of 50 books on top of her grave to celebrate her life. Please feel free to share books with whoever may need to feel of Heavens love. Spread the word!
