We cannot afford to ignore Islam’s SS Last weekend I visited Kew gardens in London. Stretching across hundreds of acres along the banks of the Thames it is a garden lovers Paradise. Even the thunderstorms which marked the impact of Hurricane Bertha on southern England and the periodic deluges which it produced couldn’t ruin the day. In an attempt to escape one particulary heavy downpour we ran into a tent like structure which served as the outdoor area for a café. The thunder drowned out the roar from the planes flying into nearby Heathrow, the lightning created a disco effect and the rain bounced about a foot of the ground outside while the wind rendered our open shelter ineffective. As we sat mesmerised and miserable we both started laughing at the companions we had gathered in our common and futile goal of keeping dry. There was an American family whose mother after every flash loudly declared “oh ma gawd”. Beside me there was an Arab family, the woman in a full burkha eyes peering out from the little slit in her robe and her husband beside her who with his long beard and flowing robe which he pulled over his head to keep him dry, wouldn’t have looked out of place as a Taliban commander. Beside him was a Jewish man in his long black coat, his little black skull cap, and long ringlets hanging down the side of his face. To top it all was an English family of middle eastern origin the mother in a mini skirt. I am sure both the Arab and the Jew regarded her as one of Satan’s angels. It wasn’t long before this diverse group were British style complaining about the weather and no one would have believed that in other circumstances and places they are at loggerheads in a murderous and bloody war. My girlfriend joked about the bizarre encounter and suggested that they needed more rain in the middle east to bring the various factions together. Unfortunately as we have seen over recent weeks the answer is not that simple and the tinder box which is the Middle East should concern us all. Anyone who has watched as the black clad fighters of IS have swept like some marauding medieval horde across Iraq, knows we cannot ignore this Islamic version of the SS any more than we could ignore Hitler’s black clad equivalent in the 1940s. Apart from the way in which they have cold bloodedly murdered those who do not share their twisted religious views, burying them alive, beheading them, lining them up to be shot, crucifying those who are Christians and then proudly displaying it for the world to see, they have made it clear that their war is one which they will extend to our country. Already we have scores of recruits from the UK proudly joining in the ranks of these fanatics. One young man from Cardiff boasting that he executed many prisoners, one beheading taking a long time even though he had sharpened his knife and boasting how he watched beheadings while eating his dinner. Having trained and desensitized these young people the intention is to set up an Islamic state which will become a base from which to send them abroad to take the war to the “infidel west”.
