We celebrate the 14 time All-star, 13 time Gold Glove winner, 7 time silver slugger winner, 1999 AL MVP and 2003 World Champion Florida Marlin catcher, Ivan Pudge Rodriguez. Rodriguez turns 43 today and was born in in Manati, Puerto Rico. He plays his high school sports at Lind Padron Rivera high school in Vega Baja Puerto Rico. He signs with the Texas Rangers in 1988. He makes his MLB debut in 1991. He finishes 4th in the voting for AL rookie of the year. In 1992, he is named an American League All-star and that would start the 10 year straight streak for that award. He would be awarded a Gold Glove and that would also start a 10 year streak of getting the award. In 1994, he is awarded a silver slugger, it starts a 6 year streak of getting that award. He appears in the post-season for the 1st time in 1996. Plays again in the post-season in 1998. In 1999, he has a career high 35 homeruns and 113 rbis, he is named the AL MVP. The Rangers are in the post-season in 1999. His last season with the Rangers would be 2002. In 2003, he is signed has a free agent by the Marlins. He would be 2003 NLCS MVP for the Marlins and earns a World Series ring. In 2004, he signs with the Tigers. He would be an All-star for the Tigers 2004 thru 2007. Gold Glove winner, 2004, 2006 and 2007. Silver slugger winner in 2005. Plays in the World Series for the Tigers in 2006. His final season with the Tigers would be 2008. He would finish the 2008 season, playing for the New York Yankees. In 2009, he splits his time in the lone-star state, first with the Astros and then a return to the Rangers. His last 2 seasons of his 21 season career, would be 2010 and 2011 for the Washington Nationals.
