We certainly had a busy 2 days here at Parkview Pet Center… Our doctors were working well towards midnight yesterday evening after we received an emergency walk in for an incredibly sick and deprived kitten. Upon examination we discovered that the kitten’s mouth was infested with maggots that were destroying and infecting the kitten’s gums and tongue, alongside a serious eye infection. It seemed unlikely after this first examination that the kitten would survive the night, but after a grueling evening shift our fantastic medical team was able to stabilize the kitten… The emergencies kept rolling in, when only one hour after our doors opened this morning, a dog was brought to us in critical condition after we suspect he was hit by a car. The dog was initially seen by his rescuer dragging himself using only his front legs to escape a busy road in the rush hour traffic of Al-Wakra. Rushed to our hospital, it was determined that this poor boy was left with a spinal fracture. Perhaps what is most heartbreaking about his story is his unbelievably gentle nature considering the severity of his injury, despite the immense amount of pain our brave boy must be enduring he has not growled, bitten or even cried in pain once. Now named Leonardo he has become the latest addition to our 2nd Chance family and will soon be undergoing restorative surgery with Dr. Joemel. Sadly, these events are not exceptional to us and we receive new cases frequently, however, 2nd Chance Rescue will never turn its back on an animal in need of urgent care…although we do need your help! Should you wish to make a donation supporting our brave new addition’s care and recovery, please visit our Parkview Pet Center reception to give your pledge to their 2nd Chance.
