We closed out September at Tuesday Verses well!!! lol September is typically a very interesting month. The summer comes to a close, people are in transition, and you say goodbye to one season, and some times some people lol and hello to the next! I am so happy that I get to live through my seasons with a bunch of some of the most loving, creative, talented, and inspiring groups of people in RVA! And whenever I think what we do is just a regular open mic, someone reminds me that what we do is not typical. There was a woman who came to Verses for the first time last night. She was staying in Richmond for one night on her way back to Miami on a morning plane. She just happened on us when looking for somewhere to grab food, and decided to stay for Verses. She said it was the best thing she could have done. Her exact words to me during meet and greet were I AM SO IMPRESSED.. I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT RICHMOND HAD LOVE AND CREATIVITY LIKE THIS. I LOVE WHAT YOU GUYS DO HERE! YOU HAVE TO COME TO MIAMI... HOW CAN I HELP YOU GET THERE!? On our Verses instagram we have followers from Australia, Ivory Coast and a couple of other countries who wait for my after Verses posts. My thought seriously... wow... All I can say is BUT GOD on that one - that is amazing. Thank you to all who came out last night and those who wanted to, or put energy up in any way to make it beautiful! Shouts to the staff Nickey McMullen, Jamila J. Williams and Lee Jones! Shouts to the band Curt Broadie, Hart Dementi, Jahi Watson, Lenny Bones and so great to see our fam Bee Boisseau in the house last night (who just pulled out a small size keyboard from a back pack and got to rocking out hahah)! So to all the folks that touched the stage!! I am still rocking off of that James Brown moment we had hahah! That brother ALWAYS kills it hhhah!
