We continue our series for the voting for the best baseball player in a given season, the baseball MVP award. We turn the baseball clock to the year of 1972 and the American League. Just in December of 1971, the White Sox would send infielder Steve Huntz and southpaw Tommy John to the Dodgers for 1st baseman Richie or Dick Allen. All Allen does with the trade with the Sox, would become only 2nd White Sox to be awarded the AL MVP, the 1st would be Nellie Fox in 1959. Allen leads the AL with 37 dingers, 113 rbis, 99 walks, 420ob% and .603 slugging %. The player with the nickname Wampum Walloper would hit .308, he collects 321 points and 21 1st votes.
