We continue our stay in Illinois to highlight the life and political career of Corbus Plummer Gardner, a three term member of the Illinois state senate. A longtime resident of LaSalle County, Gardner was a railroad attorney for a number of years and was first elected to the senate in 1898. He served here until 1910 and during his last year in office became embroiled in an ongoing graft investigation involving a number of other legislators. He weathered the scandal and after leaving office continued to practice law in both Chicago and Mendota, dying in the latter city in 1925 at age 57. Read all about him!
