We could never have learned the things of God unless our Teacher, - TopicsExpress

We could never have learned the things of God unless our Teacher, existing as the Word, had become a man. No other being had the power to reveal to us the things of the Father, except His very own Word. What other person knew the mind of the Lord, or who else has been his counselor (Rom 11:34)? We could have learned in no other way than by seeing our Teacher and hearing His voice with our own ears. Then, when we have become imitators of His works and doers of His words, we may have communion with Him, receiving growth from the perfect One, from Him who exists before all creation. St. Ireneous of Lyons (c. 125-c.202)
