We departed the Scenic Jewel on Sunday morning in Budapest and flew to Berlin, Germany on our way to Zurich, Switzerland where we boarded a train for Bern. Our friends Connie and Franz Liechti-Zahnd picked us up at the train station and it was cold and raining. However, they had a wonderful treat planned for us. We stowed our luggage in their car and walked a few blocks away to the Bundeplatz square where a special outdoor Christmas season laser-light show was about to begin. The show has been different every year since its inception three years ago and it plays November 1st through December 31st , two times every night and people travel many miles to see it and then shop in all of the many nearby stores for Christmas. It was the most amazing sound system and computer generated laser show I have ever seen outside of Disney World. The lights shine on the Parliament Building and then transform the building into a fairy tale castle and a story is read while a beautiful orchestra plays in the background over a sound system that fills the square. My pictures just do not do it justice. Connie told me it is so famous now that similar countries, like Paris are beginning to do something like this over the Christmas Holidays.
