We did it! Through no fault of La PAWS, Rocky’s or Rose, there simply was not enough kennel space to house all of the existing dogs and the large number of incoming dogs this past week. Unfortunately, decisions have to be made and Rocky & Rose were the chosen two, with Rocky needing more dog-dog socialization, plus having a chronic skin condition and Rose with a torn cruciate & mild hip dysplasia. Pete reached out to CAPA, C.A.R.E.4Paws, Old Yeller and Shadow’s Fund for any hope of saving these two. With the help of these four organizations plus Deserving Dog Rescue, we were able to save Rocky & Rose shortly before their time was up. I’m very happy to report that with the help of CAPA, Old Yeller & Deserving Dog Rescue, Rocky is now at Old Yeller and will be starting two weeks of training with Deserving Dog Rescue beginning Monday Sep 29. After his training, Rocky will go back to OY to await his forever home. With the help of C.A.R.E.4Paws, Shadow’s Fund & the lady who found Rose as a stray, Rose is now getting cage rest for a torn cruciate and is a Shadow’s Fund dog. We’re hoping cage rest will heal Rose’s torn cruciate, but we are prepared to raise funds for her surgery if need be. Both dogs’ lives came down to the wire. It was an amazing team effort (and many emails going back and forth) that saved these two. Thank you to our local rescues for stepping up and working together to save Rocky & Rose. We could not have managed this monumental feat without you! Remember, October is Pit Bull awareness month!
