We do a number of tax returns for employees that are subject to DOT rules and have overnight stays where an allowance is paid by employers but it is substantially less than allowed by the IRS. One primary example would be railroad employees. We are finding that way too often these workers are not doing the best they can on their tax return because they are failing to report nights out where they are required to stop by DOT. If this is you we should talk. You could be leaving substantial money in the hands of the IRS and I hate the very thought of that. We can even go back three years if it benefits you.
