We do get criticism sometimes for focusing on fundraising a lot. We make no apologies about this while we are unable to help all the animals that we are asked to take. With very high vet costs due to the nature of the animals we help, we do not believe in skimping on this cost and our vets visit each month as well, an essential service. It is rare we are not at the vets at least 3 times a week with other animals needing everything from routine procedures like neutering to more intensive care when needed. We do always want to do more. Our trustees subsidise the rescue heavily from other business interests as our accounts show. But there is a limit as to what they can afford - at the moment the rescue pays no electricity, the rescue vehicle mileage is all paid by trustees and heating costs are too. So, if you do not like our vision of helping animals other rescues cannot help, like FIV+ cats or very elderly animals, feel free to not support us. But we will keep pushing to grow to do more and help more animals - because that is what we are set up to do. Animal causes do not get statutory support like many other charities. We rely on our supporters. So, to every donor, text donor, event participant, sponsor, we thank you on behalf of all the animals we help.
