We dont normally take a public political stance. Campaigning for one particular person has never appealed to us, until now. As many of you will recall Im 2010 Toby was stolen from Gilbert and Jan Sims yard in Claiborne Parish. We searched for miles and days with lots of tears and heart ache looking for Toby. The defendant called Jan at work one day to tell her he might be able to help her find her dog if $&!%÷/ Gilbert would give him his £÷\!&# metal back. Admitting hed taken Toby because he thought Gilbert had a pile of his metal. Gilbert did not have it. As it would turn out the man who had the metal contacted the defendant and offered to let him come get the metal in return for the safe return of the dog, the defendant declined. It took establishing this page, lots of prayers and phone calls and searching through Facebook pictures from a weekend trip the defendant made the week Toby went missing to finally, FINALLY find Toby!! In OKLAHOMA where the defendant had GIVEN HIM AWAY, telling the people he had saved him from an abusive home!! What?!?! Within two weeks of his return Toby began having trouble walking. The vet discovered a tumor on his spine and within a couple more weeks Toby had to be euthanized, the weeks he spent away from his family were some of his last healthy weeks he could have spent with the people he loved. With pictures, letters from the vet stating Tobys worth and evidence that he had never been mistreated, the defendant was eventually arrested. The prosecutor was made aware of all of the facts and presented with the evidence. Tobys family was not notified by the prosecutor or victims advocate when this FINALLY went before Judge Clason, therefore they were not able to be in attendance and give their side. In the pictures below you will see court documents the family acquired after they learned the case had been settled without their knowledge. In these documents Danny Newell states Toby was eventually returned. Toby was NOT returned. Gilbert and his son-in-law after much searching, drove through the night to be reunited with Toby in Oklahoma, after having finally made phone contact with the man who had him. The defendant tells Judge Clason that the dog is now dead, which is true, from being euthanized because of his inability to use his back legs!! Not from POISONING as the defendant states. Anyone who knows Gilbert and Jan Sims knows their animals are treated like family. In response to the defendants statement about Gilbert poisoning his dogs, Judge Clason, on the bench!! says, that wouldnt surprise me.. The defendant was fined $50 for this crime!! Fifty. Dollars. With that being said, if your pets are like family we would encourage you to vote #59 Ben Bleich and #61 Chris Bowman You can read more on the Missing: Toby facebook page to familiarize yourself with Tobys story.
