We enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the Imperial Palace East - TopicsExpress

We enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the Imperial Palace East Garden, through various paths and groves, around ponds and up hills. We entered a museum and viewed an exhibit on two of the Meiji Emperors most loyal officials. We saw the mosaic laden theater built for the Empress. We took photos by old and reconstructed buildings. We also got bitten by bugs and one good Japanese Samaritan even lent us her insect repellent. After more than 2 hours, we began hearing announcements that the park was closing. We thought we covered all of the East Garden but had yet to see the famous double barrelled bridge Niju bashi. When we finally asked the guard at the exit where it was, we were embarrassed and delighted to learn it was outside to the right! We took another hour to walk along the perimeter walls of the Palace until we finally found and took photos by Niju bashi. Patience and persistence are indeed rewardable virtues!
