We fortunately and unfortunately live in an era where we are bombarded with media and technology. Machines and gadgets are making things quicker and cheaper. These invention stream line our lives by creating short cuts in reaching goals faster. This is a plus, however this has created a lazy attitude among the newer generation by relying on technology as a short cut in exchange for good old fashion skills that lead to real mastery in anything. Talent, practice, diligence, hands on skills ,real working knowledge and craftsmanship are paying the price. The reality is that this extra time gained is mostly used enjoying more media that really doesnt add to our creative output or true understanding of our chosen field. Mastery in anything comes only from understanding all aspects of our profession no matter how minute. I am not against using technology but if you do, know the inner workings of that same gadget or tool that is assisting you.
