We gave away 14 homemade apple pies in two weekends! Leos baking frenzy continues....Part 2 Leo remembers coming home sullen one day because hed lost a soccer game. His Momma, in her wisdom, suggested, Maybe a slice of hot apple pie will make you feel better. One bite…and Momma was right! What does it mean to be Made In America? Is it a crowd cheering during a baseball game? Is it the smell of a fresh baked apple pie cooling on a windowsill or deck seen here LOL? How do you get to know your neighbors? My go-to approach is to bring them a pie. Pie makes people happy and guarantees your neighbors will remember you. It also offers an opportunity to chat for a moment, which I find doesnt happen often enough. The one downside to bringing over pie? The pie plate. The dilemma with the pie plate is that you want it to be disposable so you dont have to hunt it down later, or worse, donate a much-loved and more expensive ceramic or glass pan. But I find that the aluminum disposable ones you buy from the store dont bake the crust evenly, and since theyre far from sturdy, heavier pies cant be reliably toted down the block. Anyhoo... Pics: My sis in law Irene and her 3 grandkids came by and help pick more apples off the tree. 6 Pies cooling on the deck: Gave 2 away to Irene (Leos sister ) , David Wooten (Leos nephew) ,remaining 4 seen here -- for neighbour MaryAnn Holmes-Kohenskey across the street, (let me know when is a good time for me to come over dear? ) our next door neighbour(s) Tim and Sue ..one for Leo and since im not a fan of apple pie , this delicious classic custard pie seen here -- all mine! LOL Bon Apetit! Denises website: leoanddenise.webs Leo Harris Deborah LaCour
