We go through a vast majority of our lives always trying satisfy our personal desires. We chase after the best things in life only to satisfy us temporarily. Then were off chasing the next best thing! Careers, relationships, the ideal body and material things. Its cool and everything, but I want to shed some light on a select few... These are the individuals who take great pleasure in serving other people giving the gift of time. They do not rely heavily on things of this world to keep them content. Instead, their lasting happiness comes from serving others. Ive recently come to know a hospice volunteer and she continually amazes me with her big servant heart. Hearing her story and her passion towards caring for hospice patients and their families just blows me away. Right now, on this Saturday afternoon, shes at my home accompanying my mom just so my family and I can have quality time together. How can one give so much of oneself to ensure the love and care of another especially a stranger?!? The answer is simple... Jesus did! The scripture that puts it in perspective: Jesus said, For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45 NIV) A great lesson for me who often serves only when it is convenient. #whatwouldjesusdo #reflection #servantheart
