We got Maxxs test results back this afternoon, with some good news & some bad news. Good News: Now that we have OFFICIAL test results, insurance can no longer fight us :) Bad News: Maxx failed his hormone stimulation test, which means his body is NOT producing growth hormones, which explains why he isnt growing. Throughout this journey, weve had people say, our child is small too, or he will hit a growth spurt, but the problem isnt that hes small. The problem is that he does not grow. Most 8 year olds havent been able to wear the same jacket for 3 years...the same shoes for 3 years...the same underwear for 5 years...the same tshirts for 4 years, etc. And, no, he will not hit a growth spurt, because without growth hormones, you cannot medically hit a growth spurt. His growth hormones were charted through blood draws, and proven to be non exsistent, for the most part. Also, his cortisol level is basically zero, even while taking prednisone. So, the next step is an MRI, which was scheduled. The MRI is checking for tumors in the brain....that hurts my gut....but that is actually a causation of his growth hormones not working. BUT if that is normal, and lets all pray without ceasing that it is, he will be ready for his injections! He will be on a needle/vial injection every day, until hes around 16 years old...at the most, 18 years old. His MRI will not be scheduled for next week, because next week is when Collin will be put under on anesthesia, for his CT scan. I will keep you all updated, whether you want to be or not lol. I know our family is curious, though!
