We got a late Christmas present on the night of Dec 26th- clear skies, warm temps, and no wind! It was a great night for star gazing..we had guests out with the telescope seeing some of the treasures of the winter sky. After they retired I headed to Keuka Lake to see if I could get a quick photo of Comet Lovejoy (C/2014 Q2). This is from Indian Pines looking over Morgans Marine- and yes, the comet is in the picture (very small). The chart shows the path over the next month- the comet became naked eye visible yesterday (better in binoculars), and should be brighter in a couple of weeks. (Chart from skyandtelescope)
