We got an early flight out of Buenos Aires and landed in Posadas - TopicsExpress

We got an early flight out of Buenos Aires and landed in Posadas to start our trip through the province of Misiones. Our driver/tour operator/friend Ramon from Viajes La Sultana was waiting for us and drove us to the Jesuit Mission San Ignacio Mini. Although I have been here many times it still amazes me the work that the Jesuits did in the area and the way that they helped the local indigenous people ( the Guaranies) to fulfill their potential and establish a self sufficient society. Unfortunately the Spanish Government thought in the 1800s that the Jesuit were becoming too powerful and removed them from the area resulting in the end of the project. The remains were swallowed by the jungle and it was not until 1920 that an Uruguayan writer living in the area stumbled with the ruins and convinced the Government to unearth what was left. From 1940 onwards the project took shape and today we can have an idea of how the place looked like 300 hundred years ago. Unfortunately after our visit a big thunderstorm started and we had to cancel the night Light and Show. Also I cant post any photo so youll have to wait until we get better connection.
