We got home a little while ago, and were having some lunch. The - TopicsExpress

We got home a little while ago, and were having some lunch. The procedure went smoothly, but poor Collin is having some difficulty adjusting to the pH probe. It looks like a feeding tube coming out of his nose, and its hooked to a little monitor. I can tell you from when I learned to place a feeding tube (by doing it on myself) that its very uncomfortable to have a tube going down your throat, so I feel bad that hes uncomfortable. Hopefully as the day goes on, hell adjust to it. The doctor was able to tell me some of what he found. There is severe, diffuse, grade 3 esophagitis in the distal third of the esophagus, and an ulcer in in the middle third of the esophagus. There is also a diffuse area of moderately severe non-erosive gastritis in the entire stomach. Multiple biopsies were taken throughout the esophagus, stomach, and part of the duodenum. We will learn the results of the biopsies and the pH probe next week. After the pH probe comes out tomorrow, Collin can go back on his prevacid. This will block the production of acid and give his digestive tract time to heal. He may have another endoscopy in a few months. Im hoping we can prevent the nissen surgery discussed a few months ago, but we may eventually have no choice. The doctor feels this is all likely damage from radiation. :(
