We had 611 learners from Cooper College take part in our Friends of Kloofendal hands-on environmental educational programme last week (Monday 24th November to Friday 28th November), grade 0 to grade 6. The learners had their nature adventure walk in guided groups of not more than twenty learners per guide, into the reserve, where they could explore all the little things that interested them with the guide interpreting what they had found.The guide interpreted the findings in terms of the curriculum requirements. The walk was followed or preceeded by looking at specimen of the reserve, part of the FroK displays, which we had moved from our small FroK EE Centre into the big Ecological Centre, so that all the children and teachers could benefit from the displays.
