We had a lot of guesses for the very neat bird that we have as a patient at Back to the Wild. The answer (in case you didnt see) is a white-winged scoter! I have been flooded with messages asking about his release and if people can attend. Unfortunately, these birds are very sensitive to captivity and the longer you have them, the less their chances for survival. This means that we are going to have a very small window of opportunity for his return to the wild. We will have to time it just right with the weather so that we are giving him his best chance for survival. This means that there are no plans and his release will likely be decided very last minute. However, we will be sure to take plenty of pictures and we will do our best to get a good video of him. Thank you all so much for your interest in him! Scoters tend to be prone to fungal infections so we will be starting him on a few things to help prevent this.
