We had a lovely Footsteps walk in the Breamish Valley in the Northumberland National Park today. Excellent walking weather, dry but a bit overcast which kept the temperature just about right. We saw golden plover, red grouse, meadow pipit, raven, wheatear, grey wagtail, common sandpiper, buzzard and oystercatcher. Up on the grouse moor, we saw bog asphodel, a real moorland specialist plant, bright splashes of yellow beside the path. Linhope Spout, that delightful waterfall was sparkling as it fell into the pool below, but no wild swimming today. Happy walkers all round and if you want to join a Footsteps guided walk, then just get in touch. Bog asphodel details here plantlife.org.uk/wild_plants/plant_species/bog_asphodel
