We had a nice little visit by a young family this afternoon, who brought their two year old daughter to see us after they had visited the Fire Department. It was a nice visit and she was a sweet little girl, who left with some safety-themed coloring books. Kudos to those parents for bringing their child out to engage the police, who she should know she can always approach for help. Many times we have parents who are having minor behavioral issues with their kids and want us to "scare them". Typically with young children, we decline participation in those events. We want them to trust and feel comfortable around law enforcement officers, not fear them.
