We had a very good and well attended meeting at the Happy Pear - TopicsExpress

We had a very good and well attended meeting at the Happy Pear last night. Thirty people or more showed up for a lively discussion which added some elements to the Objector Template and opened up several avenues to build opposition to the McDonalds proposal outside but parallel to the planning process itself. Three of the six local councillors invited did attend. One of the other three had another commitment. No local TDs could attend, but all had valid reasons for not being able and offered their continuing support — these are Greystones-based Simon Harris and Stephen Donnelly, and Bray TD Anne Ferris. The Objector Template will be edited and fine-tuned over the next two days and will be available from Friday 5 December. We will place links to download the Objector Pack here and in other forums and media, with a full explanation of how to use it and what you need to do after submitting the objection. There was strong representation from the parents associations of several schools. We now know that six of the seven local primaries will object, either by Board of Management or via the relevant parent association. Several BoMs are meeting this week to consider this matter and we will know more of their intentions once those meetings conclude. A big shout out to all the partners and staff at the Happy Pear, who made the meeting space available. To Janet who came around to lock up after us; and especially to the always rock solid Paul Byrne who, when he heard there was a clash with the Film Club showing, hosted the show in his house in order to accommodate our meeting in the café. And to all the concerned — and very determined — people who attended.
