We had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the next - TopicsExpress

We had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the next year. Life has a way of coming at us from lots of directions at once. These last two weeks have been a calamity of errors. At a recent appointment with Social Security Administration, we were notified that Eva does not qualify for benefits, and her MediCal is now terminated too. They waived the overpayment as this was their error, but this means that we have to figure out about her Synagis medication. With our heath insurance and MediCal it was $0.00 out of pocket. With just our insurance we were told it would run approximately $600 out of pocket, after insurance, per injection. She is supposed to have one injection per month for the next 3-4 months. Last weekend someone stole the rear tail light off of my truck. They removed the red and white plastic housing and screws and stole them, but left the bulbs and wires in place. I ordered a replacement, which was about $50, but didnt come with screws. I hope I dont get a fix-it ticket before I can find some screws and install the new housing. Yesterday, one of the bulbs fell out on my way to the dump, so Ill now be replacing that too. In the last few days our mashing machine decided to retire before the end of the year. I ran the standard checks and discovered the motor has burned out and I have to decide to replace the motor for somewhere between $150-250, or buy a used or new washer. In the mean time, I guess well be wearing more of our wardrobe than usual, or hanging out at a laundromat. Last weekend, I was out of commision with a quick moving head cold. Ethan has been continding with it for the last two days, and Lindsey just started sniffling. We have to be very careful as we dont want Evangeline to get this as it might mean a trip back to Childrens Hospital... not how we want to end or start a year. Heading into the New Year were going to have to be extra budget conscious and cautious, and thankful. Everything above is a 1st World problem. Were fortunate for the Social Security and MediCal coverage we had when we relied on it. Im blessed to have a vehicle and the right to drive. Were lucky to be in a country with running water and the convenience of in-home laundry machines. Were privileged to have access to high quality medical care when we need it. Sometimes when things go wrong it is easy to become spiteful, bitter, or depressed. These are the times to remind ourselves of our multitude of blessings.
