We had a wonderful question that came in from a follower about contact sports or gross motor activities. The concern was about the spinal cord becoming injured with a blow or fall. The follower had heard that trampolines would be a dangerous activity for someone with Down syndrome. Here is our response: Thanks for the kind words! Your nephews doctors arent completely off! No, it is true. There are some activities that could be considered dangerous until ruled safe. The trampoline, soccer, gymnastics, skating and any large contact sport would be dangerous. There is a potential issue with the spinal cord in the neck becoming more exposed. We have taken steps (by having an x-ray) to ensure that Stasyia isnt aligned in a way that she could injure more easily. Great question! We also provided an article that details the information, concerns and recommendations about this. Feel free to like, comment or share our posts/photos as it helps to spread awareness about Down syndrome AND keep our page active! Thank you so much!
