We had an exciting meeting in Connneaut this month and had an opportunity to begin mapping out locations for existing and new displays and features within the park. Its not quite summer yet in Conneaut, but the snow is finally receding! We are excited to announce a new addition to the Saturday evening activities. We will again host the USO, complete with a big band, at teh Human Resources Center. In addition we will be turning the historic American Legion dance hall and bar into a reenactor-only evening of music and fun. The Fubar Boys will be headlining our entertainment at the Legion. Allied and Axis reenactors alike are welcome at the venue. Soccer fans break out your jerseys and cleats -- Friday afternoon will include a rematch of Allied versus Axis European-style football from 1500-1600. Contact [email protected] to join the team. If good old American baseball is more your flavor, contact [email protected] to sign up for our Friday evening pick-up game at the local ball field from 1900-2000. Some other highlights: • Have a new display you want featured? Let us know about it so that we can include it in our event program. • Been itching to put on your MP or FG impression? Join our Allied or Axis camp police. • Havent gotten enough potato peeling in over the winter? We are looking for recruits to help in the Allied and Axis messes. Had enough time in the kitchen, pack your mess kit so you can take advantage of the field kitchen fare. Based on feedback from attendees and new units this year, we will expand the Axis camp to include a beach-front location. As we are opening up another beach area for the Commonwealth attack on Juno and Sword beaches, we will have an area of Axis works that need to be occupied. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to be considered to camp in the defensive works in this area. We also will be changing the Allied camp a bit to provide the Commonwealth with a larger camp location. We also have several requests through the year from people trying to find units to join. If you would be open to being contacted, let us know your unit name, a contact name and email, and the region from which most of your unit members are drawn. We plan to include a list on our web site in the future. Email [email protected] to be included on the list. Next month we will be providing information on the schedule and registered vendors. Remember that registration will open on May 8!
