We had originally thought Juliette would go back to the CICU - TopicsExpress

We had originally thought Juliette would go back to the CICU (Cardiac ICU), but from talking to the anesthesiologist before the surgery, he thought she would return to the floor. She did well in surgery, but they did decide to play it safe and send her back to the CICU. We gathered our things from our old room on the Floor and headed to see Jules. When we got to the CICU, we were told we needed to wait to see her because they were re-taping her breathing tube. (I thought that they must think we are sensitive souls if they didnt want us to see her breathing tube re-taped...) After another half hour, we were able to go back and see her. The Teratoma in Juliettes mouth, which was removed when she was two weeks old, wasnt very vascular. The Teratoma that they operated on today was much more vascular. And I am pretty sure that is why they had us wait. When we walked into her room, she was awake and had blood bubbling out of her nose and mouth. She was trying to cry, but couldnt make a sound due to the breathing tube down her throat. The nurse gave her more morphine and, after a while, she was able to settle down. She continues to bleed, but it will slow down. They expect her to stop bleeding completely by tomorrow sometime. It was initially hard to see Jules like this. Not necessarily because she was bloody, but because she was so confused and scared. She is sleeping now and her heart rate is beginning to come down. Im not sure how she will sleep tonight, but am guessing that it will be a hard night for her. But tonight will pass and tomorrow will be better. And tomorrow she will be able to breathe clearly through her nose. The surgeon showed us the before and after pictures and the difference was amazing... The Teratoma that they removed from her nasal passage was the size of a marble. And when you are as little as Jules is, that is a very big obstruction in your nose. This will make a huge difference in her ability to breathe. Thanks for all your prayers.
