We had our appointment with Dr Bowman this afternoon. He was impressed with Zachs progress so far. He feels Zach will progress enough to go into there inpatient rehab. He said the entire brain is involved because of the energy behind the bullet. The main part that was effected controls decision making and appropriateness. Only time will tell. But, these are things that can be worked on. He said we are looking at a 2 year recovery. He also said after inpatient rehab he feels Zach would benefit from there day program for a couple of months until he goes to outpatient therapy. This would be 5 days a week but we would be able to move back into the apartment for those 2 months. We would transport him each day and then he would come back with us for the night and the weekend. So, all in all it was a very informative meeting and we left feeling hopeful for Zachs recovery! Dr Bowman stated that most gunshot wounds to the head end up fatal. He said in all reality Zach shouldnt have made it but there must be a reason he survived and that he must have things on this earth left to do! I know by the grace of God and all of your praying, is the reason Zach is here today. So with that I say THANK YOU!!!! Words cant express how grateful we are for all of you!
