We had our first stint at Java Jazz Festival way back in 2010 followed by Jakarta Jazz in 2012.And every year i never fail to be there just to have some ideas the kind of repertores that I should think of to suit the audience, .Melihat kepada , penonton yg datang sejak dulu lagi kebanyakkan ialah penggemar music bukan penggemar jazz tulen. Mereka lebih bersifat commercial. Maka tak perlu buat lagu yg pelik2 org tak paham. End up u with more musicians on stage than the crowd. Even, in Java Jazz 2011, Ron Carter the legendary bassist did not get as many viewers as Marcus Miller. Tumpuan penonotn lebih banyak kepada Dave Koz, Incognito, Earth Wind and Fire, Spyro Gyra dll yg mampu menarik ramai penonton2. Malah kalau ada Kenny G pasti ramai yg berebut2. This year , Im pretty sure that Ive made the right choice, putting in balance of some commercial and big band repertoires. Quite lucky to have Indonesian legend Harvey Malaiholo as our singer. I guess thats how the strategy is ..the prganser putting in collaboration of Malaysia and Indonesia on stage . Most of his hits are getting some new and fresh big band sound. And also Im putting Malaysian saxophonist JARi and our hottest BVS in town.I know this time we gonna make. Putting RTM Big Band on top of the world...
