We had reservations for the Dredge 8 tour this morning. It was a lot of fun, the pipeline was right at the entrance. They use what they call pigs to clean the inside of the pipeline out. The tour started with a train ride in the rain, we were entertained by a wonderful talented man who loved Johnny Cash. He sang most of Johnnys songs for us. The train went through different areas showing us the equipment and methods used for mining. We ended up at a station to actually pan for gold, if you remember we have certificates in gold panning so we were the experts lol. When they weighed our gold flakes Bob had $9 and I had $8 worth of gold. We went on the dredge itself. It was still early when the tour was done so we went over to The University of Alaska. They had a wonderful art gallery and collection of native american artifacts.
