We had something like that happen on the flight back to the USA for mid tour leave. There is a group that gathers everyday at Dallas Fort Worth airport that claps like this and personally welcomes home every soldier, sailor, airman and marine that deplaned there as we left the international terminal to find our follow on flights home. I dont know about others but it brought tears to my eyes and a swell in my chest with pride at being an American and a member of the Armed Forces. I still talk about this, even today. Thank you to those that currently serve, have served before me and those that jar lost theirs lives in the service of our nation. I hope everyone had a nice Independence Day.
