We had the happy privilege of attending a wedding at St. Peters Ev. Luth. in Fond du Lac, WI today. This is my home congregation; I was baptized, confirmed and married in the old church. Since we moved away in 1973, I havent been back to attend any services there. The original building has been sold and the congregation built a new church on the south side of town, and let me say that they have made an impressive statement of faith. With the move, they were able to take all the original stained glass windows to the new building and incorporate them into the design. In a word, it was overwhelming. To see all those windows again after so many years, in the beautiful new setting brought tears to my eyes. Even the organ, that I remember so well standing beside as a school child when we sang in church, has made the move. What a blessing to have been there.
