Wednesday, July 2 – story hour, 3 pm, Library Meeting Room The theme for our Summer Reading Program is “Paws to Read” – Becca has lots of fun stories and activities about animals planned. Kids preschool-grade 4-ish should join us! Friday, July 4 – Library is closed in observance of Independence Day Wednesday, July 9 – story hour, 3 pm, Library Meeting Room Friday, July 11 – Steamroller Art Printing, 1-5 pm, AND kids and family games 2-5 pm, Main Ave Steamroller Art Printing is FREE and open to EVERYONE! Stop by their tent to make your own original design, then watch as they use a real steamroller to make the print! Sponsored by the Library and Viking Library System with the help of funds from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Kids and family games will be FREE and open to people of all ages. Games we have lined up so far include: ladder golf, football toss, fishing pond, ring toss, and a hole-in-one game. Please stop by and play a game! (We could use a little more volunteer help for this event – please contact me if you are available. Also, if you have any games we could borrow, please let us know.) Because Main Avenue will be closed for these and other activities that day, parking will be limited to our parking lot and side streets. Sorry for any inconvenience. Tuesday, July 15 – Annual Used Book Sale, 4-8 pm, City Hall Ballroom Everything will be $1.00. Best selection! If you would like to donate items for the Book Sale, please drop them off at the Library (the sooner the better, but we do accept donations year round). If you are available to volunteer your help during the Book Sale, please stop by the Library to sign-up for a shift. Wednesday, July 16 – story hour, 3 pm, Library Meeting Room AND Annual Used Book Sale, 4-8 pm, City Hall Ballroom Everything at the Used Book Sale will be 50 cents. Thursday, July 17 – Annual Used Book Sale, 8 am to noon, City Hall Ballroom $1/bag! Best deal! Wednesday, July 23 – story hour, 3 pm, Library Meeting Room Wednesday, July 30 – movie, 3 pm, Library Meeting Room Because of licensing restrictions, we can’t advertise the title, but it will be kid-friendly! FREE! Thursday, July 31 – Becca’s last day. Stop by to wish her well as she moves away. Join us for cookies, coffee, and lemonade. Becca’s replacement, Lorene Trumbull, will be joining the Library staff mid-July, so when you see her, make sure to give her a warm welcome! Also, during the month of July… Kids participating in the Reading Challenge (read 30 minutes/day, 5 days/week) will earn weekly prizes! Also, many thanks to all who signed up for the Twins bus trip! We met our minimum requirement (in fact we are only 3 short of the maximum) so the bus trip WILL happen!
