Identify what barriers are keeping those with disabilities from participating in worship and then make changes. Discuss with family, teachers, and church leaders how to include the developmentally challenged in Sunday School or confirmation. It is often just a matter of simplifying the material or finding different examples to share ideas. Invite them to read scripture, usher, acolyte, or help with music and then rearrange furniture and microphones to make that happen.
