We have Protestants and Catholics and Non-denominational, but we - TopicsExpress

We have Protestants and Catholics and Non-denominational, but we need a fourth branch, one in which a person could believe in God without embracing the mean-spirited, ignorant, arrogant, ugly, nasty, contentious, suspicious, hostile, alienating, marginalizing, proselytizing, persecuting practices of “Christians.” In this new division of Christianity, one might see Christ more as a teacher than a savior, and humanity will save itself by embracing the gentle teachings of Jesus and the use of critical thinking. What to name this? Nazarenes? No, that’s taken. Jesuits? Nope. I was always drawn to the Apologetic Fathers and their epistles of persuasion and logic. Maybe we could call it Apologeticism (yes, it’s a new word, thank you), and as disciples we would be Apologetics, spreading critical thinking wherever we go. Groovy?
