We have a Compassionate God. The word compassion literally - TopicsExpress

We have a Compassionate God. The word compassion literally means, to suffer with.” Joy is hidden in compassion. It seems quite unlikely that suffering with another person would bring joy. Yet being with a person in pain, offering simple presence to someone in despair, sharing with a friend, times of confusion and uncertainty, such experiences can bring deep joy. Not happiness, not excitement, not great satisfaction, but it is the quiet joy of being there for someone else and living in deep solidarity with our brothers and sisters in this human family. Often this is solidarity in weakness, in brokenness, in woundedness, but it leads us to the center of joy, which is sharing our humanity with others. At the Cross of Jesus Christ, the whole being of God suffered for us in His act of Saving Grace. We must remember that we have a compassionate God, who suffers with us in all our human sufferings; through this, we can offer compassion to others. It is the joy of our Loving Savior, to suffer with us. ---------- Ever living God, we rejoice today for Your Blessed Compassion. Inspire us with compassion, life, love, and light. Give us perseverance to serve You all our days with compassion and love for others. We pray through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with You and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and forever, Amen.
