We have a round-up of new quotes for Marvels upcoming release Guardians of the Galaxy, pulled from Comic Book Resources and Screen Rant. Zoe Saldana, speaking on her character Gamoras relationship with the other Guardians: She finds Quill interesting, but hes such a douche at first, very immature. I think shes intrigued by Groot. At least, I am! Hes so human, despite looking the most inhuman, and he has a sense of compassion. In terms of getting her to soften herself, Groot is definitely a subject to study. And then she thinks Drax is such a drama queen! But she learns that shes not the only victim. Drax has lost his family too, and probably in front of him like Gamora. Rocket had a lot of alterations done to him, and so did Gamora. And Quill lost his mom and was taken from his home. So there are a lot of things they all have in common. With Nebula, its complicated. Thats the biggest heartbreak for Gamora; that she couldnt save her sister. They have very similar paths, but Gamora wants to change. Shes just different. Nebula was probably born wanting to taste blood, and thats something very frustrating for Gamora because theres a big responsibility that she feels, and Nebula doesnt see it that way. Its very heartbreaking. Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, on his relationship with the other Guardians: The way we start off is that we dont care for each other at all, then we come together, then we split apart. Then, when we come together again, thats when were really the Guardians of the Galaxy. And you totally feel it. Were just a jaded band of misfits, except Groot, hes so lovable. But we all discover a bigger reason for living, something bigger than our own pain. And you can feel it in the scenes. Its made it pretty easy for me because I dont have a whole lot of experience in film, but if the actors are there, in that moment I can do it. Director James Gunn on the casting process: You can find a real through-line with the actors Ive worked with in the past and the ones Im working with in this movie, and thats that I really like people who can do both drama and comedy. Not middle-of-the-road dramedy, heavy drama, heavy comedy. Thats what attracted me to Elizabeth Banks in Slither, or Nathan Fillion. You can see that in Bradley Cooper as much as anyone in the world. When we were looking for Rocket it was hard, because hes the heart of the movie. Hes this tortured little beast, completely alone in the universe, whos been torn apart and put back together. But hes still really funny! We auditioned a lot of actors and voice actors, and wed have happily gone with someone who wasnt famous. The voice actors were a bit too cartoony, too Pixar, and the actors didnt really have the right voice. Bradleys the guy who is Rocket. And I cant tell you how good Dave Bautista is in this movie. Theres no one else in the world who could do what hes doing, because Drax has this Shakespearean way in which he speaks, and hes a big broad character but hes also a very damaged and tender soul, and he gets a lot of the funniest lines in the movie… Daves able to do that and be a gigantic bald dude! I cant even see how its possible that we found him. You know, he went up against Academy Award-nominated actors and he still got the role because he was the best. And its been that way with everybody. With Chris [Pratt], Bradley, Zoe [Saldana]… Karen Gillan is great, I call her Clint Eastwood on-screen, Hello Kitty off. Im constantly laughing. Finally, Gunn on the tons of Marvel characters hes promised for Guardians: I actually have to clear everything with legal. We put in little things like graffiti on the walls and stuff like that. There’s a ton, a ton of characters from the comics in this movie, in little tiny roles. But we have to clear everything with legal because once I use their name then I’m screwed in that scene or whatever. We have just tons of reference to you know Marvel Cosmic throughout the movie. And I’m certain probably the most Marvel comics characters ever in one movie. Gunn adds: If you think about The Avengers, there was a few S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and then all of the Avengers and then be kinda done. With us, we have—almost every little character is named after somebody in the comics. Some of them are far stretches from what they were in the comics. But we try to keep those little things in there for the fans and they can go and they can look them up and see who they are in the Marvel wiki page and stuff like that. But there’s a lot of characters.”
