We have a winner for our January 10th contest. We put all the names in a bowl and a draw was made. Janice Howe wins with her answer to our question: What is the single most important behaviour youve trained to dog to do and why? Janice writes: Watch me. I started with Moody at 8 1/2 weeks old. I know there have been recent posts about the dog watching too much. However this is the foundation of building our inter species communacation. If Moody wanted to go out he would come and look at me, or ring the bell at the door then find me and give me a look. If there is something Moody does not understand ( water rushing under a man hole) he will look at me. I will understand he wants me to either take him away from it ( danger) or show him ( by dancing on the man cover) it is ok. Even now if he gets whiny ( a GSD thing) I will have him watch me.
