We have all heard this phrase and most likely have said it at one point or another trying to encourage someone else....He will not give us more than we can handle. I CALL A BIG FAT PARTY FOUL!! This is a lie, concocted by the enemy, to make us believe that God wont put us in unbearable situations. It in fact, leads us to NOT rely on God but to not turn to Him when the struggle is tough because we are so sure that God wouldnt do that.... Fact is, we will face trials, we will face struggles, we will face temptations BUT He has provided a way to stand during those times! He is stronger, He is bigger and He will, at sometimes even change the situation or circumstances (Isaiah 40:4) or will provide a way out: 1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. The fact is He is the one who can and will overcome and we can as well....BECAUSE.....of Him.
