We have an update on Dobby! Its not great news but its not horrible either! The radiograph specialist reported that both knees have fractures from an injury and the joints could possibly be septic. Tomorrow she will be sedated and Dr. Clovis will take a sample of the joint fluid to send out to the lab and she will also have blood work done to look for any issues in her bloodstream. If the joints are septic she will be treated with a long course of antibiotics. The antibiotocs will take care of the infection, but it will not help her knees. Structurally the prognosis is not good for her knees. They cant be fixed with surgery, they will be fragile as she grows, and for the rest of her life. We are starting her on joint supplements and salmon oil to prevent inflammation. We will also be scheduling her at WSU to see the orthopedic specialist just in case their are any treatment options out there to explore. We will definitely get her started with hydrotherapy right away and pain management will be very important. We will not give up on Dobby. She deservesa chance. Shes happy, forgiving, and loving even though shes had a very tough start. Shes not in pain. The sores under her neck, now that they are cleaned, are very fine line cuts... almost like wire was used around her neck. We also found 3 horizontal lines of hair loss across the front of her front legs and around the back of her ankles. We can only imagine :( If you would like to donate towards Dobbys vet care or her WSU visit, you can donate by PayPal at heathshavenanimalrescue@gmail.
