We have an update on Ms. Renees sweet baby boy Connor! Well, lets start with the GOOD news. Connors breathing tube has been removed, several of his medications have been scaled back or terminated, and hes about to start a larger feeding dosage, and if that goes well hell move on to good old fashioned breastfeeding. Further, his labs are improving and aside from one or two points, hes fast approaching normal values. However, we got back the MRI results today which indicate some damaged areas in the brain, notably in the thalamus and the occipital lobe. So what is that going to mean? Right now, Renee picked up Connor and hes a perfectly normal baby. He grabs your finger (accurately), he fusses, he poops, and he already seems to prefer mom greatly to dad (the food thing might have something to do with that). He moves around, and he makes this kinda gurgling sound that babies totally make. To look at him, you wouldnt know a thing. Babies are still in a primary neurological development period for three YEARS. Meaning as long as he continues getting good oxygen (he is), and he gets some physical and occupational therapy (he is), theres a damn good chance hell either overcome the damage, bypass the damage, or repair the damage. Its not 100%, but nothing is. The point is, hes in one of the best darn hospitals he could be in, his care has been amazing, and hes physically in good and improving shape. He got a rough start, but the cards are in his favor now and hes one heck of a fighter.
