We have another amazing dog in our care! PLEASE SHARE! Meet Abe, a Cane Corso Mastiff mix-breed boy around 2 years of age. Abe is in foster care with Madison who is part of our Canine Behavioral Team. We are so lucky that Abe has gone to foster care with someone as knowledgeable as Madison. Her efforts will benefit him greatly before and after hes adopted. By the time he does go to his forever home, Madison will know Abe very well and we will be able to set him and his new family up for success. Heres an update we received from her, in her own words: Abe went for a walk at 5:00 this morning! He ate all of his food with my hand on his head and holding the bowl with no problems. Grant ran with him and read to him. Sometimes Abe grabs at the leash playfully when first going out. He is learning to sit down and shake extremely fast. He sits when you stop walking. We both just fell asleep for 20 minutes with my head laying on his body. This is a very handsome dog, and if you know this breed you know that they will only thrive when they have structure! That means daily routines that include a good walk, training, and finally play time as a reward. Abe is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. When considering giving Abe a forever home, please not only research his breed, but also the care he will need, as big dogs need more food and cost more per vet visit.
