We have been Armidale for the last few days doing some work with the dogs up here. Whilst here we dropped in to see the local companion animal shelter and RSPCA. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. The Animal shelter and RSPCA work together to move dogs from the shelter into foster homes, once a month an "open day" is held at the park where you can go down and meet the dogs in foster and some from the shelter.It was so fantastic to see these two organisations working together and the wonderful program they have set up to help re home the dogs. The success of this program means that the shelter has a very very low kill rate and very few dogs are returned due to incorrect placement. I take my hat off to both of them and the wonderful work they are doing.
